Ricardo Engineering approached us to build iOS and Android apps that would overlay real-time air quality on to a phone's live camera view. A central use-case was for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers to be able to plan their routes based not only on efficiency of travel but also total breathed toxicity.
The air quality data itself was based on a number of factors including measured conditions and machine-learned predictions based on live traffic, the local built environment and weather.
As a result, key views included a local live view of augmented reality and a mapped route-planner view.
